Whether you’re heading to work, campus, or anywhere else, GoMyWayVA® makes it easy to create or join a carpool for commuters traveling to, from or through Northern Virginia.
Say goodbye to traditional carpool coordination and long-term commitments. GoMyWayVA® is putting you in the driver’s seat (or the passenger seat!) with one easy-to-use app designed to help you save time and money.
A Way to Save: HOV-3, Slugging, and Express Lanes 🛣️
Tailored specifically for Northern Virginia drivers and commuters, GoMyWayVA® includes advanced routing that integrates HOV-3 lanes and slugging directly into your trip planning. By utilizing these tools, eligible carpools with two riders can seamlessly access Express Lanes for faster travel, helping you beat peak-hour traffic and cut down on your overall commute time. And with an EZ Pass Flex, carpools of three or more ride the Express Lanes free.

By sharing rides, you’ll lower everyday travel expenses like gas, parking and tolls. But the savings don't stop there! Complete a carpool trip for a chance to earn GoMyWayVA® Coins. You can stack up your Coins and redeem them directly for gift cards and local perks. Combined with savings on commuting costs, sharing the ride is even more rewarding.
How to Carpool in 5 Easy Steps 📋
Ready to get started? Update your app and start sharing the ride today. You have two options:
Ride Now With Your Carpool Buddy
Start a Driving Trip: Enter your destination on the Home screen and start your trip, then tap the button to add a carpooler so your carpool buddy/buddies can scan your QR code.
Complete Your Trip: The driver finishes the drive, all parties rate each other and then you all earn your Coins!
Find a Match to Carpool Later
Join or Create a Group: Go to the Carpool page and Manage Groups to join a public group or create your own public or private group, then invite others to join.
Post a Trip:
Drivers, post a driving trip with the number of available seats.
Riders, post a riding trip with your willingness to walk to the location of other nearby passengers.
Or post one of each if you’re open to driving or riding to increase your chances of finding a match.
Submit the trip to see your possible matches. Send an invitation or respond to an invite(s) from others to lock in your carpool buddy/buddies.
Share the Ride & Earn: When the time comes, hop in, follow the app's instructions and start racking up Coins toward your next reward!
